Symptoms of Depression

It is one of the most common mental disorders in the United States, affecting more than 18 million people each year. While anyone can experience depression, it occurs more frequently in women than in men. Symptoms can vary from person to person, but often include feelings of sadness, worthlessness, and hopelessness; loss of interest in activities once enjoyed; problems sleeping or eating; and thoughts of suicide. Depression can be treated with medication, therapy, or a combination of the two. Early diagnosis and treatment are key to preventing more serious problems down the road.

Treatment of Depression in Ayurveda

Depression is a state of mind that can be brought on by many different factors, including personal loss, traumatic life events, and chemical imbalances in the brain. Ayurveda, an ancient Indian system of medicine, recognizes three doshas or body types: Vata, pitta, and Kapha. Each dosha is associated with a particular set of characteristics and imbalance can lead to physical and emotional problems. Ayurvedic treatment for depression aims to restore balance within the individual and may include dietary changes, herbs, aromatherapy, and yoga.

Treatment of Depression in Naturopathy

It can be extremely debilitating and can interfere with a person’s ability to function in everyday life. While there are many conventional treatments for depression, such as antidepressant medications and therapy, some people may prefer to seek treatment from a naturopath. Naturopathic treatments for depression can include dietary changes, supplements, herbs, homeopathy, and acupuncture. Some people find that naturopathic treatments help them to feel better quickly, while others find that they need to combine naturopathic treatments with conventional therapies in order to get the best results.

So, as per your need and comfort, you can decide whether to go for an Ayurvedic or naturopathic treatment.
